Leasure Elementary Student
Pet Food Drive
During the entire week of Delaware Week for Animals, teachers and students at Leasure Elementary School will be collecting food for the Delaware SPCA Stanton Shelter!
The students will also have the opportunity to read the book, " Mutt Dog" by Stephen Michael King and enter a art/essay contest. For more information, please call Mr. Werbrich at 302-731-0069.
Mutt Dog: City dweller Mutt Dog is brave, fast, and smart, but he is also hungry and lonely. When he happens upon a shelter for homeless humans, he finds food, companionship, and a shelter employee who takes him home. King's pen-and-ink and watercolor illustrations exude a friendly, hopeful feeling, even at the beginning of the story when Mutt is scrounging for food in trash bins and seeking comfort under park benches. By the story's end, Mutt Dog is clean, brushed, well fed, and happy, but his adoptive family has wisely allowed him to remain himself--a mutt. A great choice for story hours.
STEPHEN MICHAEL KING has written and illustrated many books for children, including his award-winning The Man Who Loved Boxes. He lives in Sydney, Australia.

The film is narrated by Academy Award® nominee Joaquin Phoenix and features music by platinum-selling recording artist Moby. Initially ignored by distributors, today EARTHLINGS is considered the definitive animal rights film by organizations around the world. “Of all the films I have ever made, this is the one that gets people talking the most,” said Phoenix. “For every one person who sees EARTHLINGS, they will tell three.”
